I’m a firm believer that you should show your appreciation as often as you can and given the current climate, I feel that we should put extra effort in showing our loved ones that we care. For this years Mother’s Day gift ideas, I feel that houseplants are the optimal gift – perhaps that’s because I’ve been loving seeing greenery and wanted to share my top 5 houseplants for Mother’s Day with you.
Orchids are just so beautiful which makes them a great gift because they brighten up any room. They come in a variety of colours and although may look difficult to care for, if you follow the instructions that come with the plant, you’ll be surprised as to how long they last and how often they will bloom.
Jade plants are very pleasing to the eye and makes a great gift as they’re also known as a lucky plant. Their thick, green, fleshy leaves makes this plant a great addition to any room. I prefer to place jade plants next to window sills as they do best near sunlight.
I didn’t realize that the group of plants that I love so much are known as Chinese Evergreens because I was always given their botanical name (Aglaonema Commutatum) – now that I know, I’m definitely going to refer to them as Chinese Evergreens! These group of plants are super easy to care for, come in a variety of color variations and are super decorative which makes them a great addition to any room.
I fell in love with Flamingo Lilies the very first time I was introduced to them. They are so vibrant and literally adds a pop of colour to any room you have them in. Ideally, you would want to keep Flamingo lilies in either your kitchen or bathroom as they do best in more humid conditions. Don’t be surprised to see this flower year round.
Their leaves are shaped like hearts – need I say more?! The Heartleaf Philodendron, also known as a Sweetheart plant, is one of the easiest plants to take care of and given their name, makes the ideal plant to give to your mom or sweetheart this Mother’s Day!
For all those who celebrate, have a very Happy Mother’s Day!
